Mass and Sunday Worship

While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins" [Matthew 26:26-28]

As Christians the way we worship God is the offering of the Mass, sometimes called the Eucharist, where we take bread and wine and following Jesus' command they become his Body and Blood offered to the Father and which we eat and drink.

We celebrate Mass in one of two ways:

Sung Mass (Sunday at 11am): Parts of the service are sung and there are hymns too for everyone to sing. We use incense and there is full ceremonial in order to give the fullest devotion and honour to God. It usually lasts about an hour. Also at our 11am Mass there is a Sunday School for the children. There is usually also a sung Mass on major feast days of the year.

Low Mass: This is a quieter and more reflective service without singing or ceremonial and usually no sermon (except on Sundays). It usually lasts about 25 minutes.
